From “we should ride” to one Roadtrip Plan

Roadtrips create a particular kind of planning mess.

The route lives in one map. The stops live in a spreadsheet. The day-by-day plan is in a message. Fuel and stays are tracked somewhere else. When the group changes one decision, every other detail needs to catch up.

Roadtrip is the next major direction for ThePlanIsOn, and Release 4 is intended to prove that the universal Plan core can support more than reunions and events.

One linked route and timeline

The goal is not to build another booking engine or a generic travel super-app. It is to give a group one shared operating space for the ride itself:

• A route connected to its stops.
• A day-by-day itinerary connected to the route.
• Updates when the plan changes.
• Shared expenses with clear responsibility.
• Essentials that remain easy to find before and during the ride.

The connection matters. A stop is not just a pin. It affects the day’s timing, the next leg, the group’s cost and what riders need to know.

Designed for organizers and riders

Organizers need a calm way to make route decisions, record constraints and publish one official version of the plan. Riders need a clear answer to “where are we going next, when do we leave and what changed?”

The Roadtrip direction is also where weak-connectivity essentials become especially important. A group should be able to access the last-synced route, itinerary, key locations and safety instructions when the signal is unreliable.

These are planned directions, not features available in the current product. R4 is the proof point: can one Plan make a roadtrip easier to coordinate without taking away the group’s own tools, judgment or spirit?

The destination is simple: fewer fragments, clearer decisions and more time looking at the road ahead.
